The 5 must see art galleries in New York

If you are heading to New York, it is handy to have a plan of things to see and do. New York's art galleries are so popular, famous and worthy of a visit. So which ones should you visit? There's a gallery there which will appeal to everyone, but based on personal experience and that of my clients, these are the 5 must see art galleries in New York...

1. Color Factory - 251 Spring St, New York City, NY 10013-1520 This is often a hit with families. Kids just love colour, and there's plenty of it here. This is a multi-sensory experience, where you can get in ball pools full of coloured balls and dance on a luminous dance floor. A real interactive art experience! Allow 1-2 hours.

2. Fotografiska New York - 281 Park Ave S, New York City, NY 10010-6125 If you like different, you'll love this gallery, as it is anything but ordinary. This gallery features live music, meditation, film screenings, and talks from the artists, all of which can be enjoyed whilst wandering around drinking a cocktail! Fotografskia opens late, so this is great if you need a late night attraction to visit. Allow 1-2 hours.

3. Artechouse - 439 W 15th St Chelsea Market, New York City, NY 10011-7003 This is a new gallery which has become hugely popular with fans of digital art. The combination of art and technology on offer gives this gallery a unique feel. This is another great family attraction as you can immerse yourself into the art through the wonder of technology. Allow 1 hour.

4. Gagosian Gallery - 555 W 24th St, New York City, NY 10011-1104 This is a gallery that features the work of artists who have already made a name for themselves, so it is a must do for anyone who loves the work of famous artists. Enjoy the showcase on offer at this highly respected gallery. Allow 2 hours.

5. Sotheby's - 1334 York Ave, New York City, NY 10021-4806 Whilst the name may bring about visions of auctions, Sotheby's is also a famous art gallery in New York. There are six floors of of gallery space to enjoy. With an ever changing face as artwork sells at auction, it is a great gallery to visit time after time, knowing that the exhibits will always be fresh. And to top it off, it's all completely free! Allow 2 hours.
